Star Citizen

I figured that I should post about a game currently being developed, seeing as a lot of people don't seem to be aware of it. The game is Star Citizen. It is a space simulator MMO game. Basically, you will be able to fly ships around, fight, trade, mine, explore, or do whatever. It is the most successful crowd funded game in development, with $27.5 million currently raised. I'll include a couple of videos of it.
First, an overview video (Note: Its better to go to youtube and open it HD)

As they have been developing the ships that will be available, they have been releasing what are the equivalent of in universe ad videos for them. They are basically car commercials, except for space ships. There have been two released. The videos are both hilarious and impressive in how well they capture the car commercial vibe.
The first is for the 300 series ship, which is supposed to be sort of the BMW of their universe.

The second is for the Hornet fighter.

Now, why am I bringing this up now? It is because they are having their one year anniversary sale. Basically, what they have been doing is letting people buy packages with the game, and starter ships. The cheapest package is, I think, $35. The more expensive packages can be...a bit more expensive (the most expensive package is $5000). However, they are working hard to make sure the game is not a pay to win game, and that pretty much anything that is purchased can also be bought in game. The biggest perk that people who pledge now get is that their ships have life time insurance, so if they get blown up, you get a replacement factory model. If you don't have life time insurance, you will be able to purchase insurance in game, so this is not a game breaking boon for people who back early. However, this is ending in the next week at the end of their anniversary sale.
I have put...a decent amount of money into Star Citizen, because I think it will be an amazing game, and I trust the devs to make it worth it. I thought that I should try to let people be aware of it before this sale ends, in case they want to try to get in on it. If you have any questions, I can also probably answer them, because I have been paying pretty close attention to its development.
