Server Pinging - Can't join?

So I haven't posted in a while, and I'd like to play a little more... but I can't connect to MineRealm at all (or any other server for that matter) since the 1.7.2 update was released. I don't know if other people are having this problem or it's just me, and there have probably already been threads made about this, but I'd really just like to know if I can fix this or not. My main concern is my realms disbanding if the problem continues... which is why I'd also like to know if my login attempts count as joining the server (like they do with bans).
If anyone could help me that'd be great. Thanks :)

In the Minecraft launcher,
Edit Profile, Use Version, pick 1.6.4, simples
Edit: no need for a new profile either Roo

Or you could have accidently been auto ip banned like me, Mitchman and a few other kids since the 1.7 update.

It certainly is mate.
You can access almost any version of Minecraft that has been released since the very first one this way.
