im wondering of anyone would be intrested in a fool proof ID machine on MR? because i just invented one(not sure if its already done but yeah) so leave some comments of what you think

Please elaborate on what you mean by an ID machine.

you put an ID card in (which you have to make yourself) then the machine will see if the card is valid or invalid

Uh well, if you are looking for a way to limit access to an area then you can do so by manipulating a trap chest. I built one under Neuro's realm for example that will only allow you to enter if you have perms on the realm. Basically it works because only people added to the realm can open the trap chest which sends a RS signal to open the door. So I suppose a design like this could be modified to somehow involve the manipulation of items.

In terms of actually making it so you need a valid key or something to open a door without giving people perms on the realm, thats a lot more tricky. Pretty much the problem is that you can't really make a custom object that anyone else couldn't make. So for example, if you were thinking of making a device where you need to drop a written book (which would serve as like an ID or invitation or whatever I guess) into a hopper to open a door, I can't think of a way to make it discernible from every other written book any old person could make.

One other idea maybe could be like a safe. So basically it would be an item sorter that would only allow you to enter a door if you drop the correct items in a hopper in the correct order. So like if you drop a piece of blue wool, a piece of gravel and one diamond in a hopper in that order, you can enter a door. But any RS doing something like this though is above me.

Lol I'd say your best chance if you want to limit access or something by the use of an "ID card" would be to have a bouncer at the door who would turn people away for not having a proper invitation hehe.

In my experience it's done by the NAME of the item, and then you could use a rare symbol on a foreign keyboard and then have that be the invite. Not everyone would have that key, making it more difficult to reproduce (Like some type of Japanese letter, etc)
Just the owner would need such a keyboard.

like i said this is totally foolproof and i can make it so you have to give a ID card plus a special number to access the room and every person has their own personal code. and if neded i can change the code very easily.

This actually sounds really cool. Im interested but Im not sure what it would be for yet.
