Hello. I was just going to ask if any of you know how to get the new minecraft launcher onto your desktop, as whenever i open the launcher it's the pre 1.6 launcher. Any help is much appreciated.

Go to http://www.mojang.com and download the newest version.

Each browser will be different, but find the 'view folder' button when either left or right-clicking on the download.

Then you can drag/drop it onto your start bar or desktop.

I had the same trouble too. I will state that you copy all your saves from your old launcher before you delete it as a precaution. I moved mine to my desktop for this then just placed them back into the new launchers save folder Then while having the old launcher still up. start it up, click on the link to bring up the site. delete the old launcher and then download the new one.
