Not sure if anyone has posted this here yet, but you should try out Star-Made. It's minecraft, but in space. It's free while it's in alpha, and win/mac/linux compatible since it's java. It's pretty stable though.

Already tried it. It's not bad, but there are so many bugs.

For example, I created the ship, completed the tutorial and after I did, I couldn't drive the ship.

I gave up after I exited my ship and it teleported me 10km away.

I haven't encountered too many bugs myself. Besides the game throwing my brother out of my ship when I'm zooming around with him inside.

Pretty neat game, especially for an alpha version.

I play it, but my only issue is that I can't rejoin the server I was on for some odd reason.
