Questions about mob/item system

I had a few questions about this system, and before I did these things myself I wanted to know if someone else had to save me some time doing experiments to find out myself. Anyway, here are all the questions I have about the current system:

1. If a lever is pulled that sends a signal across many (private) realms into a LOADED chunk, and retracts a piston and forces mobs through a system of water that pushes them to the place the lever was pulled, will they actually be pushed, or will the mobs just sit there to remove lag?
2. Opposite way. If mobs are pushed from close to a player to many realms away, into a LOADED chunk, will they actually go there?
3. Will #1 and #2 also work with unloaded chunks?
4. Does render distance affect which chunks are loaded or not?
5. How many chunks/blocks away does the player have to be from items in water for the items not to move ?
6. Is the distance from #5 the same distance vertically and horizontally?

Well, since I don't know much about which chunks are loaded/unloaded, I can't try these things out to see if they work. I guess if someone just told me how the loading chunks system works on Minerealm I could just figure the rest out, but if someone has already tried this stuff out that would be much more helpful :).
