For quite some time I have been using the minecraft map to my advantage by look at the edge of the map and looking for iron, diamonds and other precious items, then mining that area with the knowledge that I will find what I am looking for.
I'm not sure whether this is cheating or not :O/

the map online shows more than the 5000x5000 map in the game so it shouldnt help at all.

Using the forum map while mining the edges of the map is stated to be legit by Intelli in a previous post, correct me if I'm wrong.

I tried this actually, but once you get to the ores there's a force field 5 blocks infront of them making it impossible to mine them. Trust me, you can't do it.
