What it says. I do believe this is the best compromise possible for this issue--mostly, it's only important for OPs anyway. Post your opinions!

If I understand the suggestion at hand correctly. you are refering to the unlimited editting of the first post made by the creator of the topic right? if yes, then I support this idea. This will go well in sells and auctions since it will help to know what has been sold and if the auction is closed or not. As well as edits to prevent any inconveinces.

If I remember correctly, this idea was rejected numerous times.

I'm only suggesting that the first post be permanently editable. The others would have restricted editing as normal.

dont think he has to explain every decision he makes as he runs the server. if he did have to explain every decision that would get a bit tiring

I know, Mager, and that's why I'm not demanding an explanation. I just don't get why it was rejected, that's all. I guess unlimited editing for auctions just isn't more important than evidence. Oh, well. I'd still appreciate an explanation, Intelli, and if anyone else can provide one, I'd appreciate that, too. Also, if you have any ideas for how to improve this suggestion, guys, please post. Thanks, all.

My understanding is that the board system we use has some technical issues with implementing a post history function. As a result, we're mostly stuck without editing for the time being, since there are a number of problems and shenanigans that come with unlimited edits, even for just OPs. Think about auctions, for example.
