I know that right now you have to own a realm to place redstone. but because you cannot buy realms in wilderness, I was thinking why not let us place it? Post comments and such. Please stay on topic.

I voted no. Why, you ask? Because the reason you can't place redstone in public realms is to stop people from creating giant lag machines. I'm sure that this is what Intelli will say if you ask him.

It would allow people to make more elaborate traps which would make the wilderness more fun in my opinion. This is one of the things I had forgotten and was dissapointed about when I tried to place redstone in the wilderness.

However, lag machines are indeed a problem.

I make elaborate redstone traps without redstone dust. :)

If you really want to kill the server you can ofcourse just use repeaters instead of redstone dust. Not sure if Intelli will appreciate it though.

The wilderness is much harder to find than public land and the nether. So, it's much less likely that lag machines would be created in the wilderness than public land or the nether.

Voted yes.

I voted yes. There is the problem with people creating lag machines, but the advantages outweigh this. Suppose there is a faction war. If you make many elaborate redstone traps, it can potentially be very dangerous (oh, and very fun).

Edit: corrected spelling

No griefing noob will travel for over an hour, then work their ass off for reds tone only to make a lag machine.

Redefine would make the wilderness a far more interesting place.

Not all griefers are noobs. Some griefers are incredibly smart, and know how to leave more of a mark on a server than "haha I broke som stuff".

However, I'm going to go ahead and 'like' your post even after pointing that out. That's because you provided the most valid reason for having redstone be allowed.
