[REJECTED] Should you be able to ignore players?

I have recently come across a couple individuals(not going to name any) who like to talk, talk, and talk, and even talk some more. Also, some of these people brag about what they have or can get and such. When I look through chat I like to see diversity and laugh, and have a good time. Its very hard todo so, when we have to filter all those annoying lines of chat through our heads. Please vote/comment on what you think. Thanks!

This was brought up before multiple times.
And rejected multiple times.
Being me I selected all 3 options.

Very well, buy at those times of it being rejected multiple times, where there so many vet's gone and tons of little kids cluttering chat with their immature little comments without vets to talk smack so they continue to do it?

I think so, but it should be set up so that staff can never be ignored.

It would be an amazing thing to be able to have public chat on and interact with other players, but not have to put up with the very small number of players who just constantantly babble every litlle thing that happens to them, and then they repeat it 4 or five times until someone responds. At the time I play almost half the chat is taken up by literally 1 person.
Please for the love of god, save me

I would also like this, but seeing in how this has been suggested multiple times, I'd guess we would have a better shot at this happening with a client modification... maybe I will look into that.

What's with all the no votes? Options are optional, how does it harm you to have this be an option?
The other morning there was no staff on, and this moron comes on "RPing" to be mario, semi-spamming the chat with his nonsense for like an hour to leave and never return. I didn't want to turn off chat, but it sure would've been nice to have some recourse other than just putting up with his stupidity.

The main issue is that it would cost a lot of work server side. Every player would have their own file with a list of players they have in their ignore list. Each time somone posts in chat the server has to check the list for every player online to see whether it needs to send the chat message to the person or not based on their personal ignore list.
More work for the server means more lag, so no thanks.

Ah, thank you BSGSamuel; that makes a lot of sense.
Would there be any way to set up a client-side ignore with a permissable addon, then?
