I am thinking of posting this on the minecraft forums but first I want your input because I know you best. Crossbows would do double damage on regular bows but the fire rate would be 3 times slower. To make a crossbow the items in the crafting table would look like this:
Empty. Empty. Empty
Wood plank. Lever. Bow.
Empty. Empty. Empty.

I wasn't sure about if it used arrows or bolts. Bolts would be crafted like this:
Empty. Flint. Empty.
Empty. Stick. Empty.
Empty. Stick. Empty.

Please voice your oppinions it will help me deside whether to post it on the minecraft forums.

Seems like too much of a hassle, with bows, mobs drop the arrows. The idea may be decent for a larger mod, but for a singular item, it almost pointless. It barely provides you with any benefit.

So are you saying you don't like the crossbow or the bolts. I wasn't sure about the bolts I just like the crossbow. I have also had a few other ideas so it won't just be singular.

The major advantage I could see crossbows potentially conferring is if you remove the arc on the bolt, or drastically reduce it. That would provide a nice advantage for sniping (not that I ever do this).

Edit: It occurs to me that you might want to work some steel into the construction as well. Many crossbows had some steel in them.

What about the damage and fire rate factors do you think they are worthy of This greatness.
I put the lever in to kind of be the steel but levers are to easy to make. Crossbows should be a treat for the wealthyish lol. So here would be the new layout( tell me to keep or remove lever):
Empty. Iron ingot. Empty.
Plank. Lever. Bow.
Empty. Empty. Empty.
If the lever is removed then the iron will go in its place if not removed the iron will either stay where it is or go on the bottem middle.

That's what I want to my cross bow. Less Arc with more accuracy and firepower.
But due to some circumstances, I couldn't configure my stuff to the fullest capacity.
Could you help me out with this thing?

I'm pretty sure he's a spammer in one way or another. Probably did a search of the site with google for crossbows and this was the only one to come up..
