[REJECTED] [Suggestion]Public End Portal

So, this isn't exactly a server suggestion, but I do think it's important. As the title states, I believe there should be a public end portal. Now, it's not neccesary that it should be easy to access, but currently, IIRC, the end is only accessible by the members of a certain faction, who have annexed the only end portal. Perhaps there are two, but both are owned :( I think it's very unfair, and eliminates part of the game for almost everyone: it eliminates an entire dimension! There should be some way for your average MineRealm user to access the end. Vote on the poll, and voice your opinions below.

There are actually 3 end portals. Last I checked one is still accessible.

I currently own an end portal - It's easily accessible via nether portal.

Once in the nether, find the obsidian border pathway. It's the second opening on the left.

Whoops  Sorry 'bout that. I just saw someone saying that end stone is nearly impossible to get nowadays, so I thought they meant that there was no public end portal.

A better topic here is what is going to be done with ender chests in 1.3 - Should Intelli block them from being placed in the end?

If they aren't blocked, incredibly fast EXP farms could be constructed - Although keep in mind 1.3 EXP will be very fast anyway.

It's also worth noting in order to get endstone or enchanted items out of the end, you would risk people nicking your stuff from the end chest, although at a time with a small amount of people online it would not be difficult for you and a friend to communicate together and know exactly when an item will be placed in the chest.

Another thing to worry about is all the endstone being mined out. I'm pretty sure there's a ton more endstone then glowstone, plus endstone is only used for building (doesn't provide light, no potions) + it's pretty ugly. I don't think it would get to the point of glowstone especially because people don't need it as much as they need glowstone.

Only real problem here is powerful PVP factions could lock down and camp the portals, stopping anyone from entering - Although I know for sure Arcane wouldn't do such a thing.

Yep, that's my 2ยข on the End in 1.3.

I see no need for those restrictions--as you say, getting high experience levels will become easy in 1.3 regardless of whether ender chests are allowed in certain areas. Additionally, if someone tried to farm endermen and send enchanted items to a friend via ender chest, they would be in constant danger of getting ganked by a PVPer (and losing whatever exp they had earned as well as any items for enchanting they had in their inventory); this would make exp farms in the End a high-risk / high-reward affair, which, IMO, would not be too overpowered.

To clarify, would grabbing someone else's loot from the ender chest be considered bannable stealing, or would that be acceptable since it's an intended function of that type of chest?

While potentially inconvenient, I don't think this is an issue that the staff should try to intervene in. The Nether was like that for quite a while, and despite the widespread angst about it (and the occasional confusion about what the rules for PVP were on any given day), there weren't any moves made to make the Nether less useful for the whole server.

Isn't the enderchest a player-specific, separate inventory, Rather that a free trade chest?

It used to be shared across all players, but the wiki seems to suggest that this is changing:
"Ender Chests have an intended drawback: The contents are not player-specific on SMP. This will soon be changed with a different drawback, it will drop 8 obsidian when destroyed and you will lose the Eye of Ender."

Ahhh that seems to prove it--the part of the wiki I cited didn't have a source, so I wasn't sure if it had been officially confirmed.
