[Suggestion] Minecarts for the New People

So, I'm seriously sick of people asking to be tp'd to a public location. I'm also sick of them publicly complaining about the walk to public land. So, since they can't take the initiative and I'm getting annoyed, I've found a solution. For every first log in of anyone on the server, give them a minecart. Then, instead of telling them to walk, we can just say, "use the subway." Of course, this will lead to increased subway griefing (unless we protect the subway) but I believe it will be worth it. Also, minecarts aren't that big of a commodity, nor can they be broken back down into iron (therefore the precious economy of MineRealm is maintained). Thanks for reading, and seriously give this some thought XD.
Note: This will also be a way to show off some subway creations XD

This is a pretty good idea, but it will require lots of iron to make it happen. Perhaps this would be improved if we request that the new players return the minecarts to whoever runs the program after they use the railway to find a place that they like.

I was more along the lines of writing code in that just does it. Really, mine carts are used for transportation and nothing else. Nobody has a chest just filled with mine carts, nor do you see auctions for mine carts (my point being that mine carts are not a commodity that would screw up the economy balance in MineRealm).

Ah... in that case I'd have to disagree with the plan. You make a decent case for it (they're not a commonly traded commodity, they can't be broken down into iron), but I don't think we ought to make exceptions to the tradition that MR is a legit server with no item spawning.

I suggested a while ago, a plugin that automatically places a mine-cart on the tracks when you press a button... it would only work on public subways, and you couldn't take the carts with you.

you're not exactly right about the chests of minecarts....
we did have a dispenser with mine carts in it, but there were two downsides, one it only held 9 carts, so needed refilling constantly, and two, people would take all 9 instead of just the one. i think for your idea it would need to be coded such that new players spawned with a cart already in there inventory, and that is considered chocolately, taking away from the legitimacy of the server. something Intelli is loath to do in 99.9% of cases

I've thought about this myself and proposed these very same idea too Intelli before, however it goes against our legit server policy. It would be mega awesome, super handy, and probably not a big downside for the economy however it will not likely ever become true.

Better yet: Write the code so that when the cart is used for the first time as soon as you leave it, it disappears. You could write it in as a new object, except that it has a use of only one. Just another thought...

does minecarts still dissapears after a while when they are unused? if not you could just make a big minecart dispenser at spawn and make an sort of lock on it so you only can push the button one time and it resets then the minecart went over an detector rail or something like that.

I think if a noob is asking about public land, someone should just hand over a minecart to him/her. The simplest solution.
