It would be nice to have some additional space, minerealm is getting quite crowded.

Then go away from spawn. 93+% is UNOWNED LAND.

The only reason anyone would want to expand the borders, would to get the new jungle biome things, and the only reason i could think that people would want the nether expanded would be for glowstone.

People. Stop being so greedy. >_> Jungle things will be introduced when they are introduced. I personally am tired of seeing people talk about expanding the world for it or asking about it >____> It may have not been mentioned but you know as well as i do, that this would be the main reason.

If you people cant have patience about a game, how are you going to get by in real life?

If its crowded, move away from spawn, plain and simple. I have lived on the same plot of land since i started in june/july and guess what, in that small amount of time, i have 1 neighbor. ONE NEIGHBOR. and i'm like only about 1000 blocks from spawn.

I know flan but out of the 88% percent unowned land about 40% is ocean.

and yes, there may be enough space to plant down a few more houses, but for big projects like mine there's only one maybe two places left where I could pull it off without stumbling upon loose realms.

I also think we should have a ring of 'disposable' land around the permanent map that can be wiped as soon as the terrain generation changes. that way we can quickly acces the new features without having to resort to full map wipes or unlegit spawning.

Though anecdotal, my own experience is that the map is becoming more crowded. When I began playing on Minerealm, I set up my headquarters at around Z = 1300 near the X axis; at the time (late last summer), this was out in the middle of nowhere. I could stand on top of the tower I built on a hill, set render distance to the maximum, and see no man-made structures other than the ones I had personally built. Gradually, a few other buildings started to go up--the frogroad was built along the X axis, a small town was assembled a few hundred blocks from my home, and a few other assorted houses were built. Even then, it wasn't very crowded, and when I eventually moved a little further out to Z = 1500 due to the relative flatness of the area, I was again far from any other settlements. When the public land wipe happened, there weren't any structures near me--the small town near my old home and the majority of the frogroad were wiped. But since that time, the pace of expansion really picked up--in the relatively short time since the wipe, the area around me has filled up more than it did in the long time that I played before the wipe.

However, this is only about 30% of the way to the world boundary. Although most realms at this distance and closer to spawn are owned, only about 8% of the map is listed as private in the rankings (with the caveat that this excludes unnamed private realms). It therefore seems that the regions closest to spawn are rapidly becoming more and more crowded, but the map overall is still not very well populated.

I've always liked the idea of a map expansion, so I voted yes in the poll. But if the only reason for suggesting the expansion is to make the world less crowded, then an expansion may not be the best solution. Since the middle of the map, in and around Spawn City, is the most densely populated area, an expansion would merely provide more space in the regions that have minimal crowding already. If you want to make things seem less crowded, a better solution would be to re-implement the multiple spawn points that we had a while back. Current players seeking less populated areas, as well as a random group of new players, would play in areas far from the sprawling middle of the map.

Plenty of servers use additional worlds. I'd think that having a separate Mining World and Nether that get wiped with every update would solve most complaints and always allow people to get new materials into the building and protected world of Minerealm.

Could be another PVP world. Maybe throw some stuff in from Apoc? Would keep things fun and interesting. As far as complaints about the economy of certain goods? It's a building and mining game. I don't know about any of you but I don't have fun pretending to be a Walmart sales associate. Building and building with ALL the new stuff is what I personally enjoy.

I don't think it would be totally legit to basically import items from other worlds. If the second world is wiped after every update, limited-quantity items (glowstone, diamonds, nether brick, end stone) would fluctuate wildly in availability and price depending on how long the gap between updates might be.

If this idea were implemented, the world shouldn't wipe, but it could have much wider borders (or even be borderless) so that if everyone starts at the same spawn point it gradually becomes tougher to find resources that haven't already been exploited. If the world is not forced to populate chunks (like what Intelli did after the public realm wipe), then unexplored areas will naturally include content added in future updates without the need for a wipe. Although, if having a borderless "mining world" is feasible depending on server load, we might as well just expand the existing map to get all the same benefits but avoid the hassle of a second world altogether.

If a second world were added for mining purposes, it should be made pretty inhospitable to make things more difficult. For example: Full PVP to add danger from other players. Griefing allowed, to discourage people from permanently living in the second world (that's what the current world is for!). Hard difficulty to make food a necessity and thereby place something of a limit on how long you can mine at a time. Adding apoc features, as you suggested, would help make things even more challenging.
