[REJECTED] [Suggestion] Public Realm Toggle

My suggestion is this: allow realm owners to toggle whether or not their realm is public (open for all to build on), yet they remain the owner and no others are able to purchase it.

I know this is probably going to be faced with criticism, but I'll still try. I've been with the server for a while now, and remember back in early 3.0 when the area around spawn was public. The area would be frequently griefed, but the community would always come together as a group and fix it. Now that that's gone, the sense of community is not what it used to be. This would also be great for cities, as it would allow them to make public tree farms, wheat farms, or even plain old creations, allowing the collaboration of countless others without the need to add them to the realm. This would present the problem of griefing, and the mod/admin's jobs don't need to be made any more difficult, so I'd also like to suggest that griefing in these realms is not able to be rolled back. This would allow groups of players to come together and fix it together, rather than having it simply roll back. Due to there being no need for rollbacks, Intelli would be able to disable block logging for these specific realms which may reduce a bit of the load on the server. Well that's about it. Feel free to post comments and such, but please, no arguments on this thread.

Edit: Perhaps rollbacks for only large griefing. There's no point in adding a feature that only makes the jobs of staff more difficult.

If you make your realm able to be built on and not able to be rolled back, wouldn't it look like a wasteland?

This is just silly. It would make public realms a magnet for griefers. Would you still ban them? and then still not roll them back? How much extra work are you saving for mods here?

Minerealm currently has two logging systems that log everything that happens on the server. There are no performance issues.

There's no need to disable block logging or the ability to rollback griefing. But I do think this would be a helpful option, for either creating a public farm or working on a large project with lots of helpers.

Another great idea is making chests open to everyone, like the chests at trade.

Anyhow, briliant idea, +1 this thread!

This, but I think it should have block logging....
Public Farms would be trashed.

This has been on the to-do since 3.0 was first released.

Ok, this is for all the haters and noobs: public/private toggle isn't new.

Correct. In 2.0 you were allowed to turn on block placement by people that weren't in your realm.

This will be fantastic for Sub Aurora, and will allow us to make the currently in progress realm public while it is being dug.
