Please disregard this thread. It is a complete fail. Intelli informed me that entity wipes do not exist. I have been told otherwise, but I beleive the man.

Well, the inventory is lost no matter what due to the no-item-spawning rule. As for being struck by lightning, if it burned him it may well have burned his inventory too. Also, I've lost inventories to creepers before the regular entity wiping began back when it was still causing lag.

Inventories are still dropped as normal if you are killed in a non-destructive (i.e skeletons, zombies, falling) way. However, although creepers don't damage blocks anymore, they still "explode", destroying your inventory. As for lightning, it too will destroy your inventory. It has been this way for a looooooooooooooong time (pre-beta).

Hmmm, then how come every time I die to a creeper I come back and my inventory items are still there?

As with TNT and Ghast fireballs, all dropped items in the explosion radius will be destroyed. A certain percentage of blocks destroyed by the creeper will survive the blast and can be picked up. In terms of environmental damage, the harder the material caught in an explosion, the less damaging the explosion will be to anything behind the material.

I've noticed my items disappearing when I get killed by a creeper a whole lot more than I did before the recent update. I rarely had that happen, if ever. My items would always be where I was killed. That's not true now. I'm absolutely sure it has to do with entity wipes, as they said.

Yea, I know that. Foolish of me to think that he should regain his items, but I just think that this problem (in general) should be fixed.

As for the creepers plus lightning, whoops. I was fairly certain that at least one of those loses were the fault of an entity wipe. Anyways, I still beleive that entity wipes should not happen. As voocat1 basically stated: "Intelli cares too much about lag." We've suffered the loss of TNT, these entirety wipes, and even redstone being disabled for a bit. All to diminish a lag that I haven't even experienced.

Now, I understand what axel_hamsen was saying, that these entity wipes are a problem.

You do realize why you haven't experienced excessive lag, right? It's because Intelli is on it like white on rice.

You do realize why I'm posting this, right? It's because minerealm has no lag but there are still limitations on the server to "prevent" it.
