I really just thought of this, probably way to late...

During the time of the web chat, the creative server was active. Perhaps, the resources used for that server could be used to power a new web chat?

Additionally, with the username verification, it would be much easier to allow players to appear as though they were in game. (Perhaps with a different colored >)

I for one, loved the web chat. There are hours each day were i cannot get in game, but can access the website. I'm sure others would agree that this would be a lovely addition to the website.

Of course, if it will use too many web resources, and slow the forums, i don't believe its worth it.

Wow, i really cant believe i missed that, being only 20 days ago.

However, with the new username verification, i think it would be completely possible to ban players from the webchat...

Only players with verified IGN's could talk on the webchat, and those players would have to be currently unbanned.

Web chat. Website chat room. What's the difference?

I would love this if it wasn't an annoying bar at the bottom of the screen. It screws with mobile forum reading. Maybe a different part of the forum linked to server chat? Also, it was kinda hard to use chat on the iPod how it was before.

Perhaps there could be a specific web page for mobile users, and for computer users a side bar that auto follows the scroll bar on the right.

At the most radical, perhaps a browser extension. But i think simply how it was before plus a dedicated page.

I am all for the Web chat returning. Just like Mitchie, I don't have access to MineRealm it self for many hours on weekdays, yet I have access to the forums. It would be great to be able to chat to everyone in-game like we used to be able to again.

I think this is a great idea as long as you have to logged in, and have a verified ign I think it would be cool if you were banned and you could still chat through the web chat

This was honestly probably one of the problems with the old chat.
