Remove Chat from "Latest Posts"

I recently noticed that threads in the bans subforum no longer appear in the "latest posts" main page. Could we please get the same arrangement with the chat subforum? If this change is made, the only threads appearing in the latest posts section would be the ones of actual relevance to the game, which would make it easier to quickly check to see if important information has been posted in the interval since one's last visit to the forums.

No. The ban section was removed because you SHOULDEN'T comment on it. The only reason why it is public is because people who are banned need to post there. Chat is an actual, and relevant discussion section. If you want to just look at things about the server, look at those dandy buttons to your left.

Yeah, I admit there's quite a difference in that the reason for the ban subforum being removed is that there are regulations about who is supposed to post, while chat is the least regulated of the sections. But I don't think there's any need to have the chat threads appearing alongside the more important topics. The discussions in the chat subforum aren't relevant to the rest of the server. Interesting, sometimes, but not relevant.

Yes please! Chat is spammy, and I think it would be better is chat was sectioned off.

This is where you are wrong. I looked at chat about 1 minute before posting this, some threads near the top are "count to 1,000" and "My Little Ponies official thread". I admit, it's fun to participate in these discussions, but it isn't relevant to the server at all.

You can argue the same thing for both sides:
  • you want to keep how it is, so if people want to look at "server relevant" posts they do a more in depth sweep in the appropriate subforums, skipping the chat "cluttering" the main page.
  • you want chat gone- other people who are interested in chat posts can look there specifically.
I personally would like chat separate.

The home page for the forum's is a recent post page. Not a recent post minus a few sections that don't appeal to your direct interests.

Also a lot of people regularly talk in the chat section and would not want to have it removed from the home page. If you want to see just server news, then yanno' there is an option to switch it back to viewing a list of sections.

One thing to add to that:
Right now, checking the relevant forum sections (excluding bans and chat) when starting from the main page requires checking nine pages.
If this idea is implemented, then checking the chat section when starting from the main page requires checking one page.
