Bans Regarding Swearing of the chat

I see that alot of people get banned for foul language in the chat ingame...I did this myself and admit that it is one of the worst decisions ive made on the server.
I want to implement a idea that whenever someone gets banned for cursing, they don't get off the hook for saying "DIDN'T READ THE RULEZZ SORRY Wot do again..sozz." But instead, Get a temp ban for however many times they cursed inchat. This format was implemented on me but it was not official. Im asking that this be made a REQUIREMENT to do this with every Chat ban. This would be a good teaching for n00bs thinking they are indestructible...

I like the idea of this being an option, and I agree with its use in your case. But making this the standard punishment for swearing isn't a great idea... if some troublemaker joins the server for the first time and immediately starts spamming, swearing, or doing both at the same time, then I see no reason not to make it a normal (i.e. permanent) ban.

Well yes if it is that bad I understand but if the player is honestly trying to get back into the server, then he/or she should pay a price for their language.

There already is a price to be paid--namely, a ban. I really don't see any need to change the current tactic of permabanning anyone that breaks a rule, and making ban appeals an option. I'd just prefer to keep it simple like that, and leave unbannings up to the discretion of the staff, rather than mandating that some bans are temporary and others are permanent.

From what it looked like, it seemed like that you were banned under that method because you had been actively flaunting the rules, and attempting to evade the language filters. There is a vast difference between a new player cursing, and an older player establishing a pattern of cursing over a very large amount of time.

Again, it looks more like that was a method for teaching veterans who think they are indestructible an important lesson.
