Minerealm Community Forums

To my understanding there used to be a both a chatroom on the website and a feature that allowed for website to ingame chat. I don't currently know why this feature was removed and have been wondering the past few days if with the evolution of both ingame Minerealm and on the webiste, whether or not it would be about time to feature a website chatroom once again.

I feel there is a part missing with communication on Minerealm. The situation is as follows:

You can either talk to people via ingame chat. You can post on the forums. You can PM via the website. Or you can communicate via an offsite programme such as skype.

This can currently present problems - For example, if you cannot access the game you can't chat to everyone at once. For sure you can PM or post on the forums, however, this isn't real time chatting. I feel there could be great benefit from a live website chatroom.

Having looked around, I think I have found a possible solution. A very easy FREE chat room feature that could be added to the Minerealm website very easily. Please see the link below.

Of course, this new chatroom would need to be moderated. To combat this problem, you could do any of the follow.

1) Current Admins and Mods
2) Current Admins, Mods and New Chatroom Moderators
3) Current Admins and New Chatroom Moderators.

I wanted to post the idea to both Intelli, Admins, Mods and citizens of Minerealm to see if people would like a new chatroom featuer on the website.

I think the web chat was removed cuz it was making the server lag or something.

And lol, it was awesome, seeing someone like Meepers talking to us out of nowhere....

Yeah i would still like to be able to talk to my friends when i go away, rather than toting my laptop.. It's rude to drive 3 hours away and then spend my time on my laptop rather than having fun off of it. This way i could pop on and say hi to everyone for 10 minutes, rather than losing myself in the game @/@

The chat on the forums was visible in-game, like you said, but it could not be controlled in-game. Meaning if a player was spamming the chat from the forums, there was nothing we could do to kick that player. Also, if I remember correctly, messages posted on the forum chat could be up to 100 or so characters. This moves the in-game chat up VERY quickly, and also allows for easier advertising for other servers, which we obviously don't want.

I really don't find it useful simply because I have other ways outside of Minecraft/Minerealm to communicate with the players I build with. For example, Teamspeak. The only time I could see it being useful is when no staff members are in-game, which is somewhat rare, and they are browsing the forums and someone needs help. Other than that, not really necessary in my opinion.
