Nether Travel

Hey everyone,

Currently, the way I see it, the Nether takes away from Minecraft the way it was supposed to be played. When traveling, you should be going through the overworld, exploring through new areas, stumbling upon majestic builds by other players that you would have never otherwise seen.

I (personally) suggest that we remove the ability for the Nether to be easily used for travel. This would also encourage usage of alternative travel, such as the subway (which is also safer).

I believe that this would give MineRealm more of a classic gameplay experience.

Here are a couple ideas for how to go about this:

Option 1 (Poll #9)
Make it so when going back through a portal from in the Nether, you always exit through the same portal that you entered the Nether through.

Option 2 (Poll #3)
Reset the Nether every #hours/days. This has downsides, as any structures built in the Nether would be lost, no Nether bases could be created, etc. To note, glowstone would not be reset.

Option 3 (Poll #17)
Disable the Nether entirely.

Option #4 (Poll #5)
Keep the Nether as-is

-

Vote and discuss. Also feel free to suggest alternative options.

I think it's fine. Notch wanted to make it so you can travel easily but slowly, or quickly but dangerously. I think it's a fair deal.

By any chance could you clarify the voting options?
You gave us 4 choices and 10 options to vote between.

It's not dangerous currently.

Also, in regards to wipes, changed it. Glowstone wouldn't respawn if the Nether reset.

This is so people actually read the full post, rather than vote based purely on the couple word description in the poll.

This is so we know if someone just randomly picks a vote. You have to read the post to know what you are voting for.

This explains it exactly. You can go through the Nether and take a risk of losing your things or go on the real world and have no risk. If Notch wanted you to not be able to travel fast through the Nether it would have matched up with the scale of the real world. If it's an actual feature in the game it doesn't take away from how to game should be played >.>

This, it's in the vanilla game so I'd rather it stay. It's already difficult enough to link your realms with other places, and all the hard work on nether rails would be wasted.

Oh, the crazy ntc guys aren't in the nether anymore? I need to get updated.

This is also false. Just a second ago before someone said ingame that this poll had been put up, Cog was trying to lead three people to Aquaria through the Nether. They have had to been killed at least 20 times by Shockwave and Liam; and it was still going on as I went afk to check this post.
