PVP in the wilderness

So as many of you from 2.0 would remember, all of the wilderness (unoccupied territory) was full PVP. I think this added a lot more of a survival aspect to the game. Now, sure you can PVP in the nether or turn on PVP, but that doesn't give the same thrill of forcing you to into a world of danger that there once was on this server. Now, the biggest flaw with the 2.0 PVP was spawn camping, as there was almost always players waiting to kill the unarmed players the moment they exited. However, spawn then was basically 200x200 where as now there can be protected land for 1000+ blocks. Basically, the likes that a camper would find someone once they finally reached public land is very slim, hence reducing the problems associated with Spawn Camping. Another idea is to also re-introduce the ability to choose whether or not your realm has PVP enabled. This would be perfect for certain arena's etc. However, problems could occur with the vast amount of spawn realms now which could get difficult as certain people could somehow channel people into a PVP zone. But, more towards the Wilderness being full PVP as it truly would make the game more exciting. No more, people /pvp kill someone /pvp to turn it off. So, post below your suggestions on the matter and whether or not you think this is a good idea or not.

I think this would be a nice addition to MineRealm as it would add more depth to the gameplay, only downside would be that new players who are working towards a realm for them selves would be vulnerable to un-wanted PVP.

I think it is a good idea. Though I haven't experienced it before it looks like it will add a feeling of danger.
To solve iBiS's problem I think that the should be a 2500 block square centered on spawn that has pvp with the ability to turn on and off (exactly the way it is now).
This will mean that the square will be 5000 blocks wide.
This would leave plenty of room for new comers who would like to live somewhere away from everything,
but not in complete danger.
There may also be a message that pops up when you leave that box to alert you that you can now be killed in wilderness.

Yes that is what use to happen and it alerts the player when they are about 10 blocks away and then again once they enter the wilderness.

I am against it, simply because I don't like PvP, I find it rather useless and meaningless in Minecraft. I like building, farming and well just gathering ressources, what I don't like is building my house and suddenly someone comes by and kills me with his diamond sword and armor, steals my ressources and then just for good measure hangs around there for 2 hours to kill me as soon as I come back. Or comes into my house and kills me as soon as I do /home. And if you say that no one would do that, how many people are there regularly camping the Netherportals, killing people before they can react? Yes most of them just want ressources or killcount, but if the internet tought me one think, it is that there are a dozens of idiots finding it funny to annoy others as much as the rules allow it.
So nope, if I want the thrill of being killable I am going into the Nether, to harvest Nether Warts or mine Nether bricks, I was on enough servers where people in Diamond armor were patroling the borders to the PvP enabled wilderness to kill any new player they can find.

A few things.
1. If you have a realm you are completely safe from PVP'ers.
2. There could also be the 2000 block (maybe even 2500 block) radius no-PVP zone meaning if you live within 2000 or so blocks of /spawn then you will be fine.
So if you want to you could have no involvement in the wilderness PVP at all.

Ah, okay I thought with wilderness you meant any area outside of that spawn area and I am outside of a 2000 and 2500 radius around spawn so any public realm around me would be PvP enabled. Still I am not really in favor of the idea since I still have to collect ressources from the public realms around me or go into public realms to hunt, so I would often enough come into danger and to me overworld = safe and relaxing place to gather some ressources, while nether = dangerous but lucrative. I just don't like the idea of either having to buy every realm I want to hunt on or gather one or two stacks of sand from, or constantly having to look around if there is someone trying to kill me. Just my personal preference.

If you are outside of a 2500x2500 when would you expect to see someone who is really trying to kill you. If they do find you, simple build in your realm.

I'm close enough to some other realms that every now and then someone comes by and I would still need to be careful to not get attacked from behind and loose all I have collected etc.. It is simple, you enjoy the thrill of constantly being in danger of getting killed by someone, I don't, I hate it(at least when I don't have a choice about it). When I want to mine, travel, hunt etc. I want to mine, travel, hunt etc. and not constantly look around for anyone who wants to come by and kill me or to be forced to do something different. And if I want to have that thrill I go into the nether.
Also if it outside of that area isn't that much of a danger, why change it at all? If it isn't that much of a danger and you hardly meet anyone then there is no real sense in doing it in the first place.
A possibility I would agree with would be expanding the map/adding another world etc. and activating PvP there, but not to suddenly force people into PvP mode around their home whether they want to or not.
