Suggestion: AFK timer for disconnect/despawn.

The Idea:
I propose adding a 5-minute AFK timer to MineRealm. If a player goes inactive for 5+ minutes he would be automatically disconnected, and all mobs within 20 meters of the player get despawned.
This would replace the current mob-nerfing modification.
Pro's:
This would be a more effective lag deterent than the current mob-nerf. While preventing players from gathering huge swams of mobs using spawners, an afk timer would also save the server all bandwidth, memory and proccessing needed to maintain afk players.
Players would once again be able to run meaningful animal farms/ranches and/or get swarmed by a horde of random mobs. This would bring the server closer to the vanilla gameplay most of us desire, without precluding near-vanilla modifications such as realms and countries.
Con's
Irresponsible players would still be able to create rediculous animal swarms. Though a small group of players <cough-me-included-cough> enjoy actively hunting and destroying animal hordes, we might miss some.

Another item for the "Pro" category: in the busiest parts of the day, when the server can get close to full, it would ensure that spots are always available for players looking to join.

I have a problem with this. I often go inactive for 5+ minutes. Maybe instead, if there are any mobs within a 15 meter radius of a player and the player has gone inactive for a bit, a five minute countdown will start and by the end of five minutes, the player will be auto-kicked.

I think the idea was to keep the server open during peak hours in addition to reducing lag.

Bone, that is almost what CirJohn is proposing, but with the added mob despawner. This way you cant even attempt afk mob farming while allowing for people to do more mob farming of pigs, sheep, cows, etc...

problem : someone can put a weight on their W key and have their person move forward into a corner all night

Good point...perhaps a "change of state/input" timer would be more effective.

I could easily program a macro to press a different button every 4 minutes and 59 seconds.

You could do that, but, as DGannon recently discovered, using macros for repetative actions will get you a polite "cease and desist or gtfo" request. He's gone now.

This would be cool, but what if a lot of people were afk? The server might be lagged by keeping timers on each of them depending on how the feature was coded. Other than that, I love this idea.
