How to solve the Nether complaints.

Hey, alright so lately we have been having a lot of trouble with people complaining about the nether. Some people just go in the nether specifically to start filling out ban requests. Others complain each time they are killed and demand their items be returned. Portal camping is heavily frowned upon, yet we are unable to fully punish those who portal camp. I'd like a few suggestions from the community and how this could be handled. In my opinion there needs to be some kind of safe zone for players once they have come through the portal.

Okay suggestions:

2 block area around nether portal is designated as safe zone, with lava walls surrounding it and the only way out being an iron door activated by a button on both sides that gives the door a 5-7 second delay so people can't abuse the safe zone

Suggestion:

Only ban for:
Purposely stalking a portal just to kill someone once they enter the nether.
Major griefing.

hard code a time limit of no kill around the portals or code the area around the portals as a "safe zone"

As someone that doesn't pvp in minecraft, it's quite tiring hearing people complain about it constantly, so something has to be done about it regardless...

The official rule is :

"A. No. Portal camping is defined as waiting at a portal with intentions to kill players. If someone enters the Nether, goes away from the portal, and you follow them and kill them after X amount of time, that is still considered camping (as you were waiting by the portal to find a player to kill). However, to clarify, there are no "safe zones" in the Nether. If someone enters the Nether, and sits AFK at a portal for 30+ seconds, there is no reason you can't kill them as they obviously have no goals or intentions. Additionally, as always, if someone attacks you, you can attack them back, regardless if they just entered the Nether."

I see no reason for this to be changed.

Maybe a simple coding of a safe zone around Portals that automatically happens when a portal is created? This would protect main portals and Those of indivduals who have their own portals from their homes.. the /pvp command wouldn't work in these areas to stop people from exploiting those who have pvp on.. Maybe if this could be done, a sphered area with a radius of 3-5 blocks could serve as the safe zone..

People have been expoiting the following rule, as no mod/admin enforces it.. as it may be camping, there has been nothing done to stop it. the only portal camping that has been actively banned for is waiting near a portal, and killing players as soon as they walk in.. least thats all i have seen

Yes its coding and i doubt it will be done but its the only way i could really think of hindering some instances of portal camping.. Will it solve people camping roads near a portal? No.. but it's a start.

The main problems with the portal camping is that you first of all can't prove if someone is intentionally camping to pvp. Second, people will go to the nether specifically to try to ban someone. someone can post misleading screenies that make it look like someone is camping. (such as attacking them first, then only recording them attacking you.

There are just too many ways for this to be exploited. We need a hard-set barrier to work from.

back in my day in 2.0 once you entered the wilderness you were fair game. now the way the Minerealm community is, we kinda have to have some rules or most of the crybabies will leave. so i suggest 2 simple rules.

1. no portal camping. this means as soon as they enter and you kill them on sight you've broken the law.
2. no griefing for no reason.

i see the reason why so many great people are leaving and have left. so many rules, so much catering to the new people. are you truly going for quantity over quality?

I say you have 5 seconds of invulnerability after entering the nether and there are no rules other than no griefing.

+1. This is the only idea in this thread that I really like.
