Regarding Redstone

After the "redstone wipe" there was clearly an improvement in lag, as intended. At the same time however, it's inconvenient to be unable to create new redstone circuits.
I therefore propose an idea to allow some use of redstone while minimizing the resulting increase in lag: allow redstone dust to be used, but NOT redstone repeaters. This should allow us to use some fairly basic redstone circuitry, such as activating a row of pistons or locking several doors at the same time, but the inability to use repeaters will severely limit the size of redstone circuits and therefore inhibit the creation of massive lag inducing machines.
If anybody manages to create a large (laggy) machine despite being deprived of repeaters (as was sometimes done before repeaters were introduced to minecraft), they can be detected and destroyed by staff without compensation to the builder (as stated by Intelli here); the possibility of having their work deleted will discourage people from going out of their way to produce abnormally large machines.
Thoughts, anyone?
