Votes for temp bans.

Hear me out before you vote please. I joined minerealm about two months ago and many times people have griefed, stolen, and spammed in chat while mods and admins are unavalibe. Yes, there is the bans section of the forums but sometimes that isn't enough to catch the person in action. My idea is this: make a /vote ban <player name> command. If a certain percentage of the community online at the time votes, that person will be banned for a day, enough time for someone to post a request on the forums for a permanent ban. A mod or admin can then come by and make the final call
Edit:
Don't bother posting, it's clear this isn't happening.

This would end badly. Think of one person almost everyone hated. I'm going to say Lightbulbs just for kicks. This is how it would be.

Lightbulbs has joined the game.
Player1Thinks: Hey look lightbulbs is on lets vote to temp ban him to get him off.
Starts vote.
Player2,3,4: I don't like him vote ban.
Lightbulbs has been Voted off for a temp ban.
Lightbulbs has left the game.

Edit because now there is a poll:
If Mods/Admins can check when and who temp banned a person. Maybe say it happens multiple times. Then there would be bans in order. I still think ythough it is an all around bad idea. No Offense.
Edit 2: First Post!

This sounds like a good idea but it has a flaw:

oThis command could be used in a negative way; Terra Nova could decide to try and get Texas_Hitman temporarily banned (Just an example)

This idea certainly has flaws, but so does the current system. Maybe this could be earned somehow. If people abuse it they can be banned, keep that in mind.

I think if this was to ever happen, before you temporarily ban someone, take a screenshot to prove their wrongdoings or faces temp ban yourself ^^

In all honesty this idea has been placed on the table before, and quickly swept away by Intelli. This is a public server that is run by the creator and those he sees fit to be administrators and moderators, not a server to be run by the majority, the corrupt majority. For example, seeing as people like maca just want to keep piling on to the undeserved hatred towards Terra Nova, someone could easily just get everyone to vote for the members of Terra Nova, or any other individual, to be temp banned unfailry, unreasonably, and unjustifiably. Also maca, we have no resentment or particular hatred toward Texas_hitman and have no reason to have him banned. Just because we're part of opposing realms and don't have the most savory of relationships doesn't mean we hate him or wish to get him banned.

Umm How is Trinity opposing realms with Terra Nova.

I understand that Foxtopia once was, but that is long in the past. Trinity is the present and exceeding realm that will try its best to keep positive relations with most if not ALL other realms.

KyleFate, if you didn't see what I wrote after the part about Terra Nova, I wrote 'Just an example.' Although I would not be surprised if Terra Nova did do this.

Hmm, although I do feel like I'm putting a target on my head for someone to come and bug me about it (don't do this guys) I actually think this would be a good idea, maybe extend the ban to a week though.

And yes, I did see the poll results and I know this battle was lost

This seems like a good idea...but I don't like the idea of placing any sort of direct "power" in the public's hands. However, if a referral system was set up then that might be different. It could work better I assume. If players were able to refer another player for a mod/admin to "check things out" then that would be more appropriate. For example /refer <player> hacking or /refer <player> griefing. Then if that player has enough referrals possibly an admin would be more prone to look into things. Well, it might get shot down, but that's my two cents.
