Minerealm has been getting a bit stale lately. I think adding PVP into the wilderness would put a spark back into minerealm. Granted If I wanted to fight i should go to the nether, but getting charged by a bunch of people with nothing in their inventories tends to get a little boring. Think of all the new roles people can play if wilderness PVP was brought back.

With all of these conflicts arising, I'd sure like a friendly brawl!

I would love PvP to be added, since in 1.8 you can now block with swords and run, it would make fighting more fun.
You have to walk about 500-700 blocks for public land, so there will be no spawn killing.

PVP was an amazing addition to 2.0. It really brought out different sides of the community, and kept us from just yelling at each other and hating each other. We could just vent in a war or something and have a good time with PVP.

No one ever utilizes the /pvp command, or abuses it whenever they're in a fight, and the Nether is just a horrible place to do battle at due to its level of darkness and too much lava. It's pretty obvious that Minerealm has made an attempt to make things better for the casual population, but at some point you have to realize there's a large majority of active players who loved the way 2.0 had the PVP.

Minerealm doesn't feel the same anymore

I could see PVP in the public areas work alright. The only problem is new players trying to get a realm will get harassed like crazy. Although if you don't want to die you can always do a quick /home or /spawn.

That is why they should build far away.
I could see the 1000 block rule coming back for this. It would make it so that the person who placed the 1000 was immune in that realm.

If their is no spawnkilling, there will likely be near spawn border-camping. People / groups of people near the line where the spawn cuts off, I don't know maybe it could work. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of pvp because I fail at fighting.

True. But they might be more inclined to get smarter and show more effort.

There could also be groups of defenders who like to defend scrubs from any odd raider attacks.
