Minerealm Community Forums

During my weekly mowing of my lawn, I had an idea just pop into my head, and it is this:

Advertisements.

When a company advertises, they pay money to the person(s) hosting their advertisements for them. With a couple ads on the forums we could generate enough money to get faster bandwidth, a better server, plus Intelli could stop using his out-of-pocket money (if he does, I do not know if he does, so if anyone knows please enlighten me below.)

Counterarguments:

Ads sometimes have viruses, malware attached to them
- This is true, however it depends on where the ad is coming from, say we get ads from Google, they would most likely be a lot safer than getting ads from other sites.

Ads are annoying to look at:
-So? If it means to get a faster server, who cares if we have a little ads.

Anymore counterarguments can be posted below and I will post my reasoning.

Also, ads don't have to be only on the forums, they could also be put on the server itself by doing a text ad every 10 minutes or so in the chat box.

If something ever does happen and intelli adds ads, I would prefer it right at the top with the minerealm icon, so i wouldnt have to look at it every 5 seconds

I agree, although it wouldn't have to be on the top, it could be near the bottom of each page or betwwen posts in a thread, not between every post, but more so every 5 posts.

Well I dont like looking at most ads, because most of the time they show a anime character with oversizes breasts, and it has nothing to do with the actual game.

I'm willing to bet that if Intelli needs more money for the server, then all he'll need to do is have a donation-fundraiser. One forum post is all it would take.

Only problem with that is it does not give people incentive to continue donating.

Actually, it theoretically goes away at some point. So there is SOME incentive to donate again.

I used to own a Forum, I use Google Adsense I managed to get £75 from it, I personally think Intelli should put Ads on but also, use AdWords so he can Advertise the Forum as well to get more people.

I vote for both of them. My vote is in the other but it is a Positive.
