With all the so called "trusted" players being banned because of hacks, I think it is safe to say that we need a 24/7 scan going on, if this is possible.

Now, I understand that this could possibly take a lot of work, but in the long run, don't you think it would be good? Now, I don't know about you, but if these players said they had never hacked before, but then we found out they did, what in the world do you think is going to stop them?

A weeks ban, a fine, returning goods? Maybe for a temporary time period, but after they have worked those credits back up, and shrugged off that ban, what is going to stop them from saying, "Hey, you know what, I need some diamonds. That purge was forever ago. Lets just turn that on... there we go!"?

Lets say we do have a constant purge though. People could still x-ray, but only mine a few diamonds every 10 or so minutes. This can make the purge useless. So, what about some sort of limit on the amount of diamonds you can mine within a certain period of time.

This way will require more programing, but wouldn't the results make it worth it?

Either way, there are ways to get around each system.

Although I think the purge was somewhat of a good thing, I'm not sure a diamond mining limit would do much good, neither would a 24/7 purge. Some people work really really hard on mining diamonds and they might break any limit set for diamonds a day. The 24/7 purge would get irritating quickly.

Now that the script is set up and such, I think the best thing to do would be to do a purge every so often on the server, maybe once every three months or so. I remember Intelli or someone saying that the script bans people that have used x-ray packs a couple of months in the past, so a 24/7 purge isn't necessary.

Anyway, that's my opinion on the subject. Intelli is probably busy with a lot of other projects, if that's the case, then any other purges are completely unnecessary

Yeah, no. I like the not totalitarian state that we live in, with our watchful and benevolent overlord Intelli. Also Cats, what will stop them from doing it again? Well, maybe the fact that all Intelli has to do is run the script at any time. Once. Having it run all the time is pointless, the fact is that xrayers were caught, and another running script that constantly scans everyody seems like somthing that can cause lag.

In my opinion it doesn't matter that an xrayer is instantly caught, just the fact that in the end he is caught and killed during a mass public hanging.

Mostly agreed. I don't think once every three months would be quite enough--a determined x-rayer could stockpile a huge number of diamonds (or other rare materials... gold, lapis, whatever) in three months, which would really disrupt the economy (40 RC per diamond, anyone?) in the time before they get caught. Perhaps something more like once every couple of weeks would be good... not a 24/7 deal that has to run at all times, but any offenders would get caught pretty quickly.

As another suggestion, perhaps the script could be changed so that it only bans players who meet the conditions for insta-ban (20 diamonds in 5 minutes, or whatever) on multiple occasions. As it is, finding 4+ large veins of diamonds in 5 minutes is very unlikely, but some people who got banned made the argument that LOL GUIZ I JUST GOT REALLY LUCKY ONE TIME AND I TOTALLY WASN'T HACKING. That claim would be more easily silenced if bans were handed out for, let's say, three separate occasions of 20 diamonds in 5 minutes. (What are they going to say to that, they get extraordinarily good luck every time they go mining?)

I vote for a 27/7 X-ray purge.
