[REJECTED] Stealing. Why it should be different.

Since I came here several months ago I have enjoyed this server. But one thing always bugs me, the stealing rule. This is not a form of griefing because it can easily be avoided and thus the stealer has no power over you. There are two ways to prevent stealing. You can hide your chests, or (if you own the realm the chests reside within) "lock" them by placing a block above the chest. It is only your fault if you fail to protect your items from people looking for free stuff. People still steal regardless, many have said "It's only against the rules if you're caught". I've seen the argument that this is illegal IRL so it should be illegal in game, but then again murder is illegal in real life as well and we can do that freely in the nether. To sum up what I've said, there is no good reason to have a rule against stealing besides "It's mean!". People will be mean, which is why we protect ourselves from these mean people. If you are caught stealing you and the person you stole from should duel (This makes things fair).
Pros
*Freedom
*New opportunities for lifestyles (Thieves)
*Less people banned
*Admins no longer have to spend time getting players back the items stolen
Cons
*Many will be angry because they have to do something to protect themselves.

1. You are stupid.
2. X-ray Mods make it impossible to hide chests. True "theives" would just download and plunder.
3. Dueling is a stupid "punishment" for getting caught
4. Some people are working on getting enough credits to buy a realm, it's not their fault they can't "lock" chests.
5. Dueling does not mean the theif would have to give back items. So it would be a pointless mechanic.
6. Stealing is not mean, it is malicious. It is taking away what people worked hard to get, kind of like smashing a building. What's that called when you do that? Oh, griefing.
7. Admins do not spend time getting items back that were stolen
8. Less people banned is not a pro.
9. Making theft legal does not give "Freedom". I don't even...
10. People will not be angry because they have to protect themselves, they would be mad that someone went insane and made stealing legal.
To sum it up, your argument is illogical and, based on the con section, heavily biased.

1. Petty
2. If your chest is hidden well (Buried underground/inside a wall) then you can report it, people just don't walk into chests.
3. Why? You do not point out anything that would make this a bad punishment.
4.Then they hide them.
5. No, if he died you would get your items back (If you didn't know, a duel would be the two members turning on pvp and fighting).
6. Those words are synonymous.
7. Yes they do, I've seen this done before.
8. That's an opinion.
9. It allows more options for gameplay.
10. So you'd rather have the admins babysit you? Take some responsibility for once.
Calling me stupid is no way to start an argument and I will not take you seriously at all, yes it is biased due to the fact that I can't think of any cons, I tried to support both sides of the argument but I couldn't think of the other side.

How much do you want to bet that he was banned for stealing?

Ok the, let's say I report it.
The reply I would get is stealing is legal, I don't care.

Most of the posts: tl;dr. I settle on that you wanted to legalize stealing. No. I've been behind my share of X-ray mods and transparent packs, and I can tell you there's little to be done to fight them off.
Hiding chests would be nothing short of walking thirty minutes away from spawn, going into a cave, digging to bedrock at the lowest point of the cave, covering a small cavity with a chest in the center with lava, fill the hole down to the cavity with smooth stone, fill in the branch of the cave you dug down with smooth stone, and then keep your visits two weeks apart at random times. Let the thieves be thieves. They'll steal without the go-ahead from the admins. The punishment for being a bad thief is getting banned, but it's easily appealed by anyone that isn't a complete moron.

Or you can just put them in our bank and we make sure no one steals your items.

Or you can put it in the Stronghold Security bank which will come in a few days, free of charge for indefinite storage.

Once I get enough credits and blocks in that spot behind the Nexus I'm gonna buy that plot.
If that doesn't work out then I'll spend another week or so and buy another plot and build the bank on that.
