[REJECTED] Suggestion: Remove the mist

It is extremely obvious that the mist will end up causing a plethora of arguments and hatred on this server. For said reason, I am exercising my right to post this suggestion to remove it.

Not going to play the rosy-colored glasses here; I joined MineRealm and stuck around over the last year or so because of the very healthy community vibe of friendly chatter, people helping one another out, and all the other systems/coding/plugin/designs that keep down the squabbling and drama that comes outta most PvP/competitive kind of things between people, especially when it comes to PvP/competitive/killing other players on Minecraft servers.

I'm not a confrontational fellow, and I don't like being forced to be involved in one as much as possible. Typing /home or burying myself underground in a private plot (realm) is still not putting down the risk of global pvp knocking on my door anytime I'm not prepared. As Jen says, no matter what folks do to protect themselves, the point that pvp is turned on globally across the server means the chances of people being caught unawares in a PvP fight, being killed, getting angry/frustrated/chat arguments/bickering in global chat/etc is increased. Before this, people didn't have to put any energy at all into worrying about being killed/harassed by other players in the main landscape, the nether and the wild were the only places to be wary of, and those were tolerable 'You choose to enter at your own risk' kind of places.

Going to admit, if the attitude and server atmosphere is going to start leaning towards a 'Well if you don't take the time/effort to be aware of when PvP gets toggled on during the RANDOM red mist events, that's your fault so don't bother us with your complaints it's staying this way', then I'll probably take my leave eventually and be online a lot less often.

But many thanks to pretty much everyone I've ever seen chatting in the chatbox or met in-game for the swell community moments over the last years, that had little to do with fun coming about from PvP/hardcore killing other players, and more to do with really great conversations of light hearted nature in the chatbox; jokes that were funny but didn't cause bickering; and lots of helpful folks and inspiring convos about cool builds, realm projects, relaxed life chatter, etc.

If things are going to stay this way with PvP being forced on everyone at random moments, then there's definitely going to be a lot less of the friendly community spirit that kept me here and playing for the last 1-2 years, and a lot less positive community rapport between players as time goes on, and more PvP incidents/arguments/bad blood/feuds happening because of the global pvp event toggling on/off at random times, even if infrequent.

And good riddance eh, who needs a pacifist canadian named TN-lame-Smith when slaughtering others is so much fun for the rest of us! Wheeee!

Increasing the chance for unwanted pvp increases the chance for more hard feelings between players which degrades the feeling of community on the server without doing much to increase the overall survival aspect of the server.

The mist is a great idea and I like how it changes the gameplay slightly, but imo this belongs to more core survival/pvp based servers and not so much in my standard MineRealm gameplay. Perhaps the mist will spice the gameplay up or perhaps it will be too annoying, it's hard to tell.
If the mist stays it will become one of MineRealms trademarks as it is pretty unique. Whit that in mind, there is great potential art including this mist.

I would also recommend a movie related to this: "The Purge".

Its not like intelli left you stranded or anything, just port away /home quickly before the bloodshed begins. This is a legit 'survival' server after all. This makes minerealm fun and exciting and the mist itself is very infrequent in occurrence anyways.

Just another reason to stay away from spawn IMO

Maybe have the mist only work in public plots, and have an option to toggle pvp? Most players have private realms, and there wouldn't be much risks at their homes. With spawn, there could be areas for pvp, like only in the first ring and fourth rings or something.

There's already an area for pvp. It's referred to as "everywhere."

I think for most players, one of the most exciting things about first playing Minecraft is the fact that there were deadly elements sitting outside your door (e.g. creepers), and actually having to worry about surviving your first Minecraft night.

Unfortunately, certain elements have to be disabled on MineRealm, such as creeper explosions, due to the fact that griefers abuse them to destroy structures. However, this doesn't mean we can't substitute them with other gameplay elements. A player sitting outside your door is essentially a more intelligent, more dangerous, unpredictable mob.

I would argue that if there's no threat of death or destruction on the server, we'd be missing the very spirit of Minecraft itself. The mist is a rare enough occurrence, that it's a minor inconvenience for players who decide to just wait it out in an safe place.

Spawn and trade should be protected from the griefing that will go on from this "event".
