Hey Minerealm!

Perhaps some of you are setting your realms to be wiped in the near future. Perhaps some of you are going to wipe a large portion of realms. Perhaps you are having a very challenging time setting realms to be wiped.

In order to make wiping more convenient and effective for us all, I suggest the following changes. If they seem unnecessary, remember that some changes to the server are purely for convenience (/profile to /p).

Changes:

-The command /realm list (Page) highlights the coordinates of the realms to be wiped in red font

-The command /realm wipe all is added, setting all your realms to be wiped even if you have already set some to be wiped

PROS
- Makes realm wiping easier for all
- Avoids the mistake of making a few realms in a large area remain not wiped, potentially making terrain look messy

CONS
The coding needed to implement this will be rendered useless as soon as the wipe takes place

While I would love to support this Jack and think that the commands would be great from a player perspective, Intelli has made it clear that he is not putting any more coding time into the "/realm wipe" command and is focused on coding/implementing the wipe script itself. If we keep pushing him re "/realm wipe", we could find that the wipe reverts to a straight public realm wipe only with no option to wipe private realms at all

I think the best that we can hope for is for Intelli to post another realm wipe map on the day before the wipe, as suggested by 11Hax in another thread. That will at least enable players who have done all their "/realm wipe" flagging at that point to confirm that they haven't missed any realms.

Thanks for the input TeeJay. I agree that it would be a lot of work for Intelli and isn't necessary, but it will be very upsetting to hear if anybody makes a mistake with the wiping.

Since I have no coding knowledge, can somebody inform me how difficult the changes I suggested would be?

As with all coding, it might be not very complicated, but it always take a ridiculous amount of time.

Programming isn't very easy to determine how long it will take =)

Generally the time-consuming bit with coding isn't making the actual changes, but error-checking to make sure that the code changes don't stuff anything else up. That's my experience anyway. Intelli likely wants to change as little as possible to make sure the wipe goes exactly to plan.

An updated copy of the map that was posted in Intelli's original suggestion thread would give everyone a chance to make sure they haven't made a mistake (which I agree is a possibility - I was flagging some ocean realms by boat and lag resulted in me being in one realm but flagging another ) ... as for the annoyance of running around and flagging all your realms, it's not a bad thing to revisit them before the wipe anyway

I think it's already convenient enough that we are even able to include private realms in the wipe. That is not a requirement, but a bonus feature. Use a piece of paper and a pen.

I have beside me a list of realms that I flagged for wipe. I wrote them down as I went along to make sure I did not miss any, and it is always good to double check, as I did in some cases, when discovering two or three realms had the same name -.-.

In retrospect, this suggestion is probably useless to most of you because you guys don't have a immaculately large square of realms that you planned to use to make Minerealm's largest build and then were unable to follow through with said plan due to being banned unjustly on the server you were using to build your draft.
