I don't know if this has been suggested or not, but I think that the teleporter should only send you in public realms for the reasons below:
1. It will be easier for new players to find a place to settle in
2. You don't have to keep on using the teleporter over and over
3. Players with private realms will have more privacy
4. New players won't complain that they can't find public land after using the teleporter

Cons:
1. It will be easier for hackers/griefers to find a place to grief
2. Coding

Included to this idea, I also think that the teleporter should not only avoid private realms, but also avoid teleporting players into water.
Pros:
1. Players will no longer have to use the teleporter again if they got stuck in the water and can't find land

Cons:
1. Coding

TL;DR: Teleporter should avoid sending players to private realms, and water.

How I read this:
'Here Intelli, do some pointless coding so n00bs can save the approximately 30 seconds it takes to type /spawn and take the teleporter again. kthxbai'
If you're too lazy to try again, you're too lazy to be a good player.
And if you can't figure out how to walk out of a private realm, may Lord Herobrine help you. :S

i like the idea, but just like you said it is easier for grievers, i admit it took a really long to to find a place to settle but once you do it is a lot more gratifying that you had to search for your land

Remember when you actually had to SEARCH for land, by walking from spawn? We had none of these teleportation problems then, why not go back to that? That was MUCH more gratifying than jumping in a hole, finding a flat piece of land and building a nub hut.

hahaha i actually started a few days ago but its funny what happened, i jumped in the portal because a guy was giving me a tutorial. so i followed and he told me to find a place to build. so i built a boat went out to see and found my self at world border like 4 times all in different areas. i walked somewhere and found out i was back where the teleporter tpd me -_- then i walked and swam to find more land and found myself back at spawn. from there i went almost 5000 blocks out just to find a small piece of land surround by pvt realms XD and not im am not only gratified but content

Everyone carries on about the server being vanilla legit, yet you want to customise the already non-vanilla teleport to make it even easier to be lazy?

Sorry but i have to vote no, you feel a lot better when you're not lazy and productive and active in a video game even though you should be in real too XD at least be so in a video game, it took me 2 hours to find a place to settle, its not that long. Especially because i was looking for the best place i possibly could

If you don't like where the teleporter sent you, go through it again (and again and again) until you are content with your location.

Yus! This would be useful for those nubs who can't understand why they can't mine/place blocks, and decide to leave.
