[REJECTED] Dislike Button

Add a 'dislike' button next to the like button, so people can express their satisfaction and/or their disdain. It will also let some people know more easily that they are being a complete moron.

Of course when you like something, you would not be able to dislike it as well.

Makes sense to have a dislike button.
If we had this when U2 made his fourth appeal it would have broken the system.

So and so liked this post.
So and so disliked this post. (or [number] person/people have disliked this post)

I can see it work. Seems simple enough. Next or along with it should be the ability to unlike something if you bump the button trying to make a quote or something. Kinda like the edit button is. (or maybe that's just me bumping buttons?)

Yet, it's not like the likes on something really matter, though. Just tells you what the general public thinks of your comment. And not to mention there's polls to say you dislike an idea, or you could just say it outright. Not to mention you'd think we'd want everyone to feel welcome here.

But I think it makes the forums seem a bit more user friendly, and allows better reactions to trolls than to fill a thread up telling them off.

I'm a tad on edge about it, though I can't imagine this would be hard to add, but I can only imagine it'd be seen as unnecessary and to top it off, there's really nothing wrong with the "like" system as is.

I like the current system of posting jokes and sarcastic comments.

Would you take that away from us in your tyrannical spree of social evolution?

I might, or I might not be. That truly depends on your actions.

Personally, I would do both. It would really drive the point home to those who have perception worthy of a garden weed.

Same suggestion
Intelli wrote:1. Not liking a post is similar to disliking it.
2. A person can make a comment (ex: "this sucks") and you can like that comment, ultimately disliking the main post.

I was thinking more of a de-like button. Turns out useful when you accidentally click the wrong button or something like that.

You could also apply that argument to what is the point of the like button as people can comment in the main thread
