I can see it work. Seems simple enough. Next or along with it should be the ability to unlike something if you bump the button trying to make a quote or something. Kinda like the edit button is.
(or maybe that's just me bumping buttons?)
Yet, it's not like the likes on something really matter, though. Just tells you what the general public thinks of your comment. And not to mention there's polls to say you dislike an idea, or you could just say it outright. Not to mention you'd think we'd want everyone to feel welcome here.
But I think it makes the forums seem a bit more user friendly, and allows better reactions to trolls than to fill a thread up telling them off.
I'm a tad on edge about it, though I can't imagine this would be hard to add, but I can only imagine it'd be seen as unnecessary and to top it off, there's really nothing wrong with the "like" system as is.
