With the new update, horses are sure to be implemented. But everyone is going to want a horse, and for it not to be killed. So ive come up with a suggestion.
Protect the horses!
Now I know that breeders will want to kill their horses, or the ones they dont want anyway. So ive come up with this:
Only the player who tamed the horse can kill it.

EDIT: possibly unless if the player is mounted and has /pvp on?

The following could be an optional feature: When realms disband, so do horses. Like I literally just said, optional. But I don't personally think it should. Since people may grief to get to the horses.

Plus we all know there will be a massive nub flood as soon as the server goes 1.6, which will no doubt include many trolls/griefers on the lookout for horses with their sad hax enabled

The maintainer/ co-author of Core Protect is working on Horse Protect. Maybe Intelli will consider implementing it.

Also, creepers dont ride horses. They made zombie and skeleton horses, but not creeper horses :3

Voted no, simply because you dont if the horses will be spawned in or out of the wild. If spawned in the wild they most likley will not survive out of the wild. This is was happend to pigs, they were only aloud in the wild. I suggest we wait tell its implamented.

I understand your point of view dl, but if we don't implement something like this horses will end up like any other passive mob on minerealm......caged ornaments.
