My suggestion
How about adding "active player" for people who have played for 3-4 months or more, in a circumstance which is not blatant griefing, they could be spoken to in game for a chance before they are banned.
The point in this would be to separate people who have in anyway contributed to the server, from new players who join & 1 second later grief and ask to be unbanned on the forum.

When the rules are broken, the punishments need to be enacted regardless of how long someone has been on the server. So, no from me.

Imagine you spend a lot of time on the server and then you get banned you don't even know why your banned without breaking a rule maliciously, if someone plays on minerealm for a long period is it not fair to talk to them and tell them why they were banned perhaps they are innocent?

If there's evidence of rulebreaking (e.g. block logs, chest logs, chat logs, screenshots), then the rules need to be enforced. Doesn't matter who the rulebreaker in question is.
Even if this suggestion were accepted on the grounds that it's somehow a good idea for enforcement of the rules to vary from one player to the next, how exactly would "talking with them" change the outcome if it's their word against objective evidence?

After a person has played on the server for months it is more likely there might be more to a situation then the logs show, respecting active players giving them a chance is all I'm proposing okay they could have gotten greedy or bored but they would also have more to loose if they are banned so it is less likely to happen, I realise they can appeal on the forum which is good but some innocent people might just leave this way

Bro, they broke the rules. Appeal, wait, and if the verdict is good, they're back. But if the verdict is bad, try, try again. If I were you, I'd quit on this suggestion

In cases of minor griefing by a well known player, staff members often try to talk to the person and get the thing repaired without a ban if possible. But the rules are the rules and that is not something that they need to offer to each and every player.

Whether it be simple griefing or hacking, we as staff enforce the rules in equal measure against all players whether they have been here for 2 hours or 2 years.

All the admins to an amazing job I salute you,
If there's evidence of rulebreaking (e.g. block logs, chest logs, chat logs, screenshots), then the rules need to be enforced. Doesn't matter who the rulebreaker in question is.
Currently someone who uses x-ray or fly hack destroys someone's work for a laugh after being on the server for 5 minutes is treated the same I think this should be changed for the severity of the Rule that is broken, this shows active players are valued?

well it seems people don't want this, I would guess that 1 in 10 people could maybe be innocent, unwilling to post on the forum as they think they would loose the appeal or feel un valued and switch server, is not paid advertisement was used to attract people to mine realm would it not be better to try to keep these lost players if there is any and have a stronger community ?
