What are you suggesting?
I am suggesting that we have new penalties for ban appeals that don't follow the ban appeal posting rules.

What would these penalties be?
I was thinking of having a system like this:
Incorrect title: 1 day forum ban + warning
Incorrect spelling: warning
One sentence ban appeal: 1 day forum ban + warning
Not being regretful: 2 day forum ban + warning
Swearing: 2 day forum ban + warning
Lying: 3 day forum ban + warning

Why would this help?
The forum bans would, hopefully, give the person some time to think about rewriting the appeal.

Pros
Should provide consequences for posting a appeal, and make people think before posting.
Prevent people making multiple ban appeals.
Make posting a ban appeal an important application.

Cons
Younger members might struggle making a ban appeal.

Why do I think this should be implemented?
Because I'm sick and tired of noobs making ban appeals with sentences and titles like:
Plz unbannz me, Ive don nothin wrong.
Please :arrow-up: me
I think I was banned for no reson!!!! :(

Even if people don't know what they've done wrong they should at least have proper English!

Tell me what you think.

EDIT: Changed incorrect spelling penalty to just a warning.

I like this for the most part, but I do have some issues.

As Supercreeper pointed out, English is not everybody's first language, and some people are young enough that they will have trouble spelling some words. As long as the appeal expresses a coherent thought, which it needs to in order to be accepted, I'm willing to overlook poor spelling and grammar.

I don't think a forum ban is necessary. If they don't express regret, their appeal will just be rejected anyway and they'll need to create a new one. Perhaps if they continually post bad appeals, but that would be more a punishment for wasting everybody's time.
Ratta237 wrote:Lying: 3 day forum ban + warning
I think an instaban for lying is a bit much. As would happen if the appeal did not show remorse, it would get rejected if the person persistently lied.

And this may require a separate suggestion, but I think that the formatting issues would also be helped if a link to the stickied thread on formatting was displayed in a prominent position on the bans forum (I.E., a big red banner saying "CLICK THIS BEFORE POSTING A BAN APPEAL.")

No, just no. How can you be sick of formatting issues, and bad ban appeals. Rokkrwolf312 should be sick of it as he has to read each one of them, and look over the logs. He already takes lying, and all that into consideration. If he thinks that the person had a terrible appeal, or lied he usually drags/keeps them banned longer. I think this is a bad idea. However if Rokkr says he's for it, then Im for it. I would like to point out forum banning them is nonsense. How are they supposed to respond to the admins questions if they are forum banned, even temporarily.

I say no...

Sorry, but the suggestion as it stands is terrible. The idea is good though. This is my mini take:

Incorrect title: Just a bit of extra time on the ban.

Incorrect spelling: Nothing. As stated, english is not everyone's forte

One sentence ban appeal: Just makes it harder for them. No direct penalty needed.

Not being regretful: One should only be unbanned once one has acknowledged and apologised for his/her actions.

Swearing: Indirect swearing (recounting events): warning. Direct swearing at players/staff, rejected appeal.

Lying: Rejected appeal with a perma-ban depending on level of severity.

It would be even better to not have a ban appeal section? Those wishing to be unbanned appeal/email [email protected]. They get one chance, there is no flaming in the community, there is less spamming and only the best of the best appeals are accepted.

Would never happen Intelli would get spammed with all the emails and no way for us to check them.

I vote No.

Basically, it's like this. Depending on how much someone wants to be unbanned, they will put forth more effort into their ban appeal naturally (which is how it should be).

Admins can just ignore appeals until they follow directions as Intelli already stated. It's that simple.

EDIT: I also wanted to add. Being "regretful" is subjective.

Nah. These things already affect their likelihood of being unbanned, and their ban time. And I like nub appeals. They make me laugh, and they give me something to correct.
