First off, I'll just say that I find it highly unlikely this will be voted to be accepted. Rather, I'm more interested in finding out the general stance of players regarding this.

Here's the proposed new system:

Change 1. Bans will be permanent - only players who were accidentally banned will be unbanned. This will create a more solid, less scummy, player base, while teaching kids a life lesson about consequences. As well, this is the method most other online games use, and will waste less of our time.

Change 2. We'll use a new prevention type system, to help stop people from getting banned in the first place. For example, we'll use an ore obfuscater to prevent people from xraying, and censor swear words in the chat, rather than banning them for it. We'd only (manually) ban people who were purposely bypassing the filter.

The new system, as proposed, would involve both changes.

The 'Banned' achievement.

Anyway, voted yes just for the hell of it.

I like change 2, however I think everyone deserves a second chance, so I do not agree with change 1... If we would have had change 1 from the start, many good players that play today would have been banned.

I voted yes but I am a bit iffy on the permanent ban thing... Perhaps we could have a rule that banned players must wait 2 weeks before attempting an appeal. If they attempt to appeal before then (Unless the ban is accidental), the appeal would be instantly rejected. Maybe even make the waiting period 3 weeks.

I think this would thin out the number of appeals quite a bit, because many players (primarily those newer players who get banned) would just move on to another server by the time the waiting period was up. The only appeals being made would be from players who have a strong interest in being unbanned and are actually remorseful for their actions, not just putting on a show of being sorry hoping for a quick unban.

Also, with a waiting period, players could be expected to think over their actions for a good amount of time and write their ban appeal with care. I think it would be reasonable then for badly written ban appeals or those which clearly no effort went into to be rejected. And, if an unbanned player is banned again (legitimately), it would be permanent and he could not appeal the ban.

Sorry for the wall of text. I like the rest of this though.

I do support this idea. There's no reason to cheat, especially on such a great server. Just play the game the way it was meant to be played and you'll have nothing to worry about.

I vote 1. People lose there cool because of irl issues who aren't like that normally. Me for instance I was banned for swearing because of 1 little thing that set me off, after having a real rough day. Maybe make them funny words that take place of curse words.

You aren't deciding between the 2 changes... Change 1 and Change 2 would be a package deal. You're voting for both at once.
