My idea is to add the /ignore command. It makes the server no less vanilla, and i know this has been brought up before but i really think some people could be helped by it. All you have to do is type /ignore [player] and bam. You cant see any of their messages in public chat, or and pms they send to you. Yeah, i know you just say, "Just /chat. Thread over." Well maybe only one person is getting on my nerves, and id like to deal with him without completely turning off chat. One important part, is that you cannot /ignore a staff member, so if something is important a staff member can still easily contact a player. Maybe a command like /ignore list could be added, to see all currently ignored players. I see no way this can hurt the server, i only see ways it can benefit it.

Would be nice but it's just too much work for the server.

It would have to check every player's ignore list for every message in public chat to determine who to send the message to. This might be ok when it's not very busy but when there are 100+ people on it could become too much.

It's a good idea, but it needs some elaboration.

Players should not be able to /ignore staff members. Also, I think new guys shouldn't be able to /ignore people until they've learned the ropes a little bit. Perhaps they're able to /ignore after their green + goes away?
