[REJECTED] Suggestion: Withers in the main map.

I propose allowing Withers to be built in the main 10K x 10K portion of the overworld. To prevent destruction of other players' property, they should be made incapable of destroying blocks (but still capable of harming other players).

Despite nerfing their block-breaking abilities, the deliberate use of Withers to repeatedly kill other players (e.g. setting a Wither loose near spawn, or building a Wither on your realm and luring it over to your neighbor's realm) could still be considered bannable griefing. The intention of this proposal is to use them defensively as a type of guard dog for your realm (albeit a guard dog that also would attack its master if given the chance--clever builders could prevent this from happening!), rather than to use them offensively to hunt down other players.

This suggestion should not significantly devalue beacons, since trying to find wither skulls would still be a limiting factor in trying to get beacons.

Possible uses for this suggestion include:
--a way to ward off unwanted visitors to your realm
--building a dangerous labyrinth / maze for players to explore (imagine if a Wither was running around in the Halloween haunted house!)
--a penalty for incorrect entry of combination locks (wrong button = pistons open hole in wall to release Wither)
--a trophy to safely display in a cage
--cooperative Wither-fighting festivities in the relative safety of the main overworld
--an interesting twist to PvP tournaments

Would make it too easy to trap and kill IMO (as if it isn't easy enough already)

That is a concern, and it would make them easier to kill once you have them, but as I brought up in the original post, it would still be necessary to get the wither skulls--that in itself can be a bit tough. I feel that the block-breaking nerf is necessary to the suggestion, because unmodified Withers would be extremely powerful tools for griefing.

Which is why we have left the withers to be summoned in the nether only. Away from the majority of the players and he builds. Second off, how would you prevent it from escaping your realm to attack a pig a few blocks away? Let's say the griefing ability was nerfed. If you were to trap it in a box with your realm, then a Wither would be pointless since your realm is already fenced in. And it won't protect your house from hostile mobs except creepers and spiders and endermen
